There is a lot going on with Brew: The Museum of Beer. Did you catch the new article about us in the Post-Gazette?

We will be talking to folks and displaying some interesting beer materials at Big Pour on Saturday, September 15. Hope to see you there. We could still use a couple of volunteers to help staff our table at Big Pour. If you can help out, please contact Debbie, our Volunteer Coordinator.

We are currently working on an exhibit on beer in World War II that will debut at the West Overton Distillery Museum on February 2, 2019. There are some amazing stories about beer during the War and we hope many folks will make the trek to West Overton to check it out. You can also make it a broader beer excursion by visiting some of the excellent breweries in the area, including Helltown, which will have a part in the exhibit. We are reaching out to our community for additional information, artifacts and contacts relating to beer in WWII. In particular, we are looking to interview individuals who worked in a brewery during WWII, as well as veterans with beer stories to tell. If you know of anyone who might be interested, contact me and we will make arrangements to speak with them.

The WWII exhibit and other projects in the works serve as “proof of concept” undertakings that demonstrate to potential investors the viability of Brew: The Museum of Beer and the capabilities of the team we have assembled. We continue to work everyday on developing the full Museum of Beer here in Pittsburgh.

Speaking of the team, we have two significant recent additions:

  • Paul Young has moved to Pittsburgh from Louisville, where he developed the Louisville Brewseum. His is also a filmmaker and a very knowledgeable brewer. Paul will be doing “beer education” talks around the area.
  • Tim Steinouer has produced multimedia for exhibits and attractions for numerous high-profile clients, including the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, Rockefeller Center and Walt Disney.

And don’t forget about our interactive Map of Pennsylvania Breweries. It shows all active and pending breweries in PA. You can also select breweries by county now, to make it easier to find places when traveling. We’ve had over 110,000 views!

We will keep you posted on other events and developments as they occur. Thanks again for your support.
